Bestwick Continues X Games Vert Domination with 6-Peat
Jamie Bestwick Captures Sixth Consecutive BMX Freestyle Vert Gold
If anyone had any doubt Jamie Bestwick would be able to continue his six-year streak in the BMX Freestyle Vert competition, they were proven wrong on Saturday night as Bestwick clinched his sixth back-to-back gold.
Bestwick stood out among the competition with his huge flairs, alley-oop 540s and perfect turn downs to X-up which helped earn him a run score of 43.00. Despite being twice the age of some of the competitors, Bestwick had a powerful and nearly flawless performance to score 86.00.
“I cannot express the level of competition over the years, what a contest! I’m very proud and I just want to say thanks to everyone in Great Britain and around the world and on Twitter for supporting me!” said an ecstatic Bestwick.
Last year’s bronze medalist Vince Byron edged out Simon Tabron for silver after sticking a Double Tailwhip Five to come out on top with a score of 72.00.
“Pretty much out of a few runs they were all similar I just wanted to pull them to get the points,” said Byron. “Unfortunately I couldn’t pull a banger any of the times, I had about three tricks I wanted to pull, I got two of them and that put me in second.”
Simon Tabron who lead Heat One over Jamie Bestwick pulled some of the biggest airs in the contest and stomped tricks like a No-handed 540 and multiple 900 variations.

X GAMES LOS ANGELES 2012
X Games Los Angeles 2012 will return to Los Angeles, Calif., June 28 – July 1, 2012, with live coverage on ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC. This year will mark the 10th consecutive year the event will be held in Los Angeles and will feature more than 200 of the world’s best athletes in the sports of BMX Freestyle, Rally Car, Moto X and Skateboard.
