In the 1980’s , there were few characters on the mound like Oil Can Boyd. The Red Sox right hander was among the best pitchers in the American League for a brief period until the lure of cocaine destroyed it all. In this E:60 interview with Buster Olney, Boyd discusses the destructive path he walked between game days and late nights, a time when cocaine was a scourge in American society and the game of baseball. Boyd emotionally and evocatively details what happened the night he was told he wouldn’t start Game 7 of the 1986 World Series against the New York Mets. Candid and at times painfully honest, E:60 reveals the pain that plagued him, at times even drove him to anger and rage. It is a portrait of a man still beloved today by the Red Sox faithful, still battling his inner demons, with the clarity he didn’t have during his volatile pitching career

Wilson was Griffin’s best friend and high school teammate in Edmond, Okla., as well as an offensive lineman at Tulsa before being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
