The inaugural X Games Austin is in the books. How did ESPN mesh its action sports franchise with the new host city known for its cutting edge culture?

In the video above, Tim Reed, senior director for the X Games, talks about why ESPN selected Austin as the venue for the summer competitions and the atmosphere generated around the event; Kevin Wilson, music director, ESPN Creative Services, discusses the X Games concert festival; and Larry Jones, senior concept developer, ESPN Emerging Technology, talks about how much research goes into creating the visual effects involved in the “Austin scenics” seen throughout X Games telecasts.
