Long-time ESPN host and play-by-play man John Saunders has become one of sports television’s most respected voices, handling a wide variety of high-profile assignments with great skill.

He’s also a board member and tireless advocate for The V Foundation for Cancer Research.

This weekend, John will be absent from ESPN’s coverage as he recovers from injuries suffered from an accidental fall last Saturday. A full recovery is expected.

Scott Van Pelt will fill in as anchor on ABC’s college football studio coverage Saturday and Jeremy Schaap will host The Sports Reporters Sunday.

We wish John all the very best for a speedy return.

At halftime of the LSU-Mississippi State game Thursday night, ESPN colleague Wendi Nix offered best wishes.
