ESPN and the West Coast Conference (WCC) – tipping off a new eight-year agreement this season – announced its 2011-12 men’s college basketball television schedule for ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN3.com. ESPN3.com will provide a simulcast of every ESPN and ESPN2 telecast.
ESPN will televise a minimum of 25 games involving WCC teams across the networks, including 21 conference showdowns. The schedule will be highlighted by a weekly Thursday night appearance on ESPN2 or ESPNU from December 29 to February 23. On five Thursdays, ESPN2 and ESPNU will each televise a WCC game. Action will conclude with the WCC Basketball Championship quarterfinals (March 2), semifinals (March 3) and the championship game on (March 5).
The schedule features two matchups between Gonzaga and Saint Mary’s, the defending WCC co-regular-season champions (January 12 and February 9, both at 11 p.m. on ESPN2). ESPN2 will also twice televise Gonzaga against conference newcomer BYU (February 2 and February 23, both at 11 p.m.). BYU defeated Gonzaga in the third round of last year’s NCAA Tournament.
